Dear Sunrise Drive Families,
 
Although we have a few weeks of summer break ahead of us, we are so excited to begin a new year with your children!  Our first day of school is Monday, August 4th! We’d like to share important events and the dates and times with you as you plan for the beginning of the year.

AASA and AzSci Score Reports
Over the next week, parents and guardians of last year’s third through fifth grade students will receive individual reports about their student’s performance on state standardized testing. Students in grades 3-5 will receive reports for AASA Math and English Language Arts. In addition, students in grade 5 will receive an AzSci report with information about the student’s performance on the science test. The reports come with information about how to read the report, however, please do not hesitate to reach out to one of us if you have questions or need clarification. 

Meet the Teacher
Later this month, you will receive a homeroom teacher assignment for the upcoming year. We invite all families to join us on August 1 to meet the teachers at Sunrise Drive. Our parking lot does not accommodate all Sunrise Drive families at once, so we offer two sessions for you to visit based on last name of the children:

• 11:00-12:00 Last names beginning with A-L
• 1:00-2:00 Last names beginning with M-Z

If you find that you cannot attend the assigned time, please visit during the other session. We are so excited to see you!

Kindergarten Principal Breakfast and General FFO Meeting: Friday, August 15
We invite our kindergarten families to the Kindergarten Principal’s Breakfast on Friday, August 15 from 7:00-7:50 AM in the library. Our Sunrise Drive FFO will provide bagels and fruit for us to enjoy as we chat and get to know one another. This is a fantastic opportunity for families to meet families of their children’s school friends. 
Following the Kindergarten Principal’s Breakfast, we invite all K-5 families to meet at 8:15 in the library for our first Family Faculty Organization (FFO) meeting. This is an important meeting that will include a Principal’s Report, discussion of upcoming events, and request for approval for grants. Please plan to join us for this important meeting if you are able.
We will host Principal Breakfasts at 7:00 AM for each grade level to take place prior to the monthly General FFO Meeting which will begin at 8:15 AM:

• First Grade Principal Breakfast and FFO Meeting on September 19
• Second Grade Principal Breakfast and FFO Meeting on October 17
• Third Grade Principal Breakfast and FFO Meeting on November 14
• Fourth Grade Principal Breakfast and FFO Meeting on January 16
• Fifth Grade Principal Breakfast and FFO Meeting on February 13

At the end of the year, we will meet for FFO meetings at 8:15 AM on March 13, April 17 and May 15. 

Curriculum Meetings
Later in August, you are invited to join us for Grade Level Curriculum Meetings. We offer the meetings over three evenings so that families may attend multiple grade level meetings. We look forward to seeing you between 6:00-6:50 PM at one of the meetings listed below:
