Join us for Science Day
Dear Sunrise Families,
We are excited to announce that our annual Science Day is fast approaching on Wednesday, January 28th! This event is a highly anticipated day dedicated to sparking curiosity and showing our students the incredible possibilities that a career in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) holds.
We Need Your Expertise!
To make this year's Science Day the best one yet, we are seeking volunteer presenters—specifically parents or community members who work in STEM fields or know someone who does.
Do you work as an engineer, biologist, software developer, chemist, technician, doctor, architect, mathematician, or in any related field? Your real-world experience is the most powerful tool we have for inspiring our students!
What does presenting involve?
We are looking for hands-on, engaging, and brief presentations (approximately 20-30 minutes) about an interesting topic in your field. This is a chance to:
- Share what you do in an accessible way
- Conduct a simple demonstration or activity that brings your job to life! (E.g., showing how code works, explaining the structure of a bridge, or talking about how a lab test is run).
The commitment would be for either the whole day, e.g., 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM or a few hours within that time range on Science Day. We will handle all scheduling and logistics.
How to Help (Even if you're not a scientist!)
- Volunteer to Present: If you or a family member are a scientist or STEM professional and are willing to share your time, please reply to this email by January 7th, 2026 with your name, profession, and the grade level(s) you would be comfortable presenting to (K-2, 3-5, etc.).
- Spread the Word: If you know a friend, colleague, or extended family member who is a scientist and would be a wonderful presenter, please forward this email to them! We welcome volunteers from outside our immediate parent community.
Science Day is a vital part of our curriculum, and it relies entirely on the generosity and time of our community volunteers.
Thank you in advance for helping us make science real and exciting for every student!
Sincerely,
Samira Jean-Louis (sachou1@yahoo.com)
